Skincare/Acne Journey Update

Since last month my skin has been doing extremely well. So, I thought I would give an update on my skin and go over anything I may have missed in my last post. I really want to make sure I cover everything and keep you updated on my skin.

The three products I've been using are Cerave cream, Bio Oil and the Lush Oatfix Mask. The Oatfix mask I use about once a week or when I feel my skin needs a pick me up. Accutane dries out your skin a lot so I'm mainly focused on moisture and keeping my skin clean.

In my last post I mentioned some things you should stay away from, but didn't state making sure you don't drink alcohol. I wouldn't suggest accutane to anyone whose a heavy drinker. You have to be very cautious with everything being that this is an intense medication. Which really isn't a problem for me and hasn't interrupted my daily lifestyle. Also you can be super healthy and still have skin issues.

As for symptoms, muscle pains are very common. Headaches are another symptom you should look out for, anything that lasts all day and can't be cured with Tylenol or Advil is something you should talk to your dermatologist about. (your dermatologist may lessen your dosage) As well as blurred vision. I've only had muscle pains and occasional headaches. Something else to keep in mind after accutane, acne can come back, but nothing like it was before you started accutane. Especially for people with very severe cystic acne this is something you may want to discuss with your dermatologist. My dermatologist said this depends on the person you may need to be on accutane longer and they will probably lessen the dosage once your skin is pretty much clear. From his point of view he told me I probably wont need to go back on the medication being that my skin has cleared up tremendously.

Here's a a side by side of my skin with a more recent photo. I hope this helps anyone who is struggling with their skin. Make sure you do what's best for you.
